The junior won the WCC Championships on Oct. 27
SAN FRANCISCO - Junior Eva Krchova has been selected as the West Coast Conference Women's Cross Country Player of the Month of October, announced by the conference today.
The fleet of foot native of Brno, Czech Republic, capped off the month by taking the individual title at the WCC Championships while edging her teammate Elena Burkard for the top spot. This marks the first time a USF runner has won the individual WCC title, and paved the way for Krchova to take WCC Player of the Year honors after her performance.
As a team, the USF women took their fourth-consecutive conference crown, outdistancing its conference competitors with ease. The team finished with 26 points, and second-place finisher Portland came in with 52 points in the meet.
Krchova also ran at the Adidas Wisconsin Invitational in mid-October, the Dons' most challenging non-championship meet of the season. USF finished 20th out of 49 teams and Krchova's time of 20:43 was good for 81st place in the highly competitive field from across the country.
Krchova and the USF women's track team continue the cross country season at the NCAA West Regionals this weekend at Jefferson Golf Course in Seattle, Wash.
