DonsTV Broadcaster Pat Olson takes you through This Week In Dons Athletics and brings you up to date on events taking place in the USF athletic department.
The men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Santa Clara on Thursday, giving up the game's lone goal with less than five minutes remaining in regulation. USF then earned a draw at rival Saint Mary's on Sunday. The Dons conclude the regular season at Negoesco Stadium this weekend with a 7:00 p.m. match on Friday against Gonzaga and then a noon kickoff on Sunday against Portland for Senior Day.
The volleyball team dropped a heartbreaking five-set match on Thursday to Santa Clara, losing by just two points, but they responded well and swept Gonzaga in straight sets on Saturday. The Dons will get another chance at Santa Clara this Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the South Bay, before returning to San Francisco for a 1:00 p.m. match on Saturday versus nationally ranked Pepperdine.
The women's soccer team finished up its regular season this past weekend up north against Portland in what was the final game for the Dons' three seniors, Megan Connor, Barret Bestard and Kelly Farrell.
The cross country teams compete on Friday up in Seattle for the NCAA West Regionals, weeks after the women's team won its fourth consecutive WCC team title, led by Eva Krchova's first-place finish.
Men's basketball ran past UNC Pembroke 94-57 in an exhibition game at War Memorial Gym on Monday night. The Dons were led by Cole Dickerson's 24-point, 10-rebound effort along with 18 points from De'End Parker. They begin regular-season play on Friday at 8:00 p.m. against Stanford at Oracle Arena, a game televised on the Pac-12 Networks and on the radio on 95.7 The Game.
The women's basketball team held its first exhibition game on Friday night, defeating Missouri Southern 72-40 behind 16 points and 5 assists from Mel Khlok and 13 points and 7 rebounds from Alicia Scafidi. The Dons tip off the regular season this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. when the host the University of Hawai'i at War Memorial Gym.
