MORAGA, Calif. – The San Francisco men's tennis continued play with two Dons alive in the main draw singles at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional Championships.

Bernardo Saraiva, ranked No. 109 in the ITA preseason poll, took down Brett Bacharach of UC Davis 6-2, 6-4 on Friday in the Round of 64 after receiving a first-round bye as a No. 6 seed in the field. In Saturday's match Saraiva, a junior from Lisbon, Portugal, downed Washington's Emmett Egger 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 to advance to Sunday's Round of 16.

James Tallman, a redshirt junior from Del Paso Heights, Calif., also escaped the first two days of regional competition unscathed. He took down Oregon's Brent Chin and Pacific's Denis Stolyarov in straight sets in Friday's first two rounds. In Saturday's match against ninth-seeded Joakim Norstrom, Tallman bested his opponent 7-6(4), 6-1.

Doubles action began Saturday with No. 1 seed Saraiva and Nils Skajaa earning and 8-6 victory over Adam Luba and Kyle Miller in the Round of 32.

Play is slated to continue through Monday at Saint Mary's.
