James Tallman, seeded No. 2 in the "A" bracket, fell in the first round to Pacific's Denis Stolyarov and will look to rebound in the consolations Saturday afternoon.
On the doubles side of the bracket, Tallman alongside partner Tan took care of opponents Phil Holbrook and Matt Roberts of Sonoma State, 8-4, before a duo from UC Davis handed them a loss in the round of 16.
