SAN FRANCISCO – Extending its winning streak to three, the San Francisco women's tennis team netted a sweep of Gonzaga, taking down the Bulldogs 7-0 Saturday at The Olympic Club.

The Dons improve to 14-7 on the season, and stand at 3-5 in West Coast Conference action. USF's opponents from Spokane move to 8-7 (3-3 WCC) after the loss in San Francisco. The sweep is the sixth on the season for USF.

For the home team, solid play was seen up and down the lineup, with five singles matches being decided in straight sets. For Marina Nikolic, sophomore from Mountain View, Calif., the Don didn't relinquish any points to Gonzaga's Melanie Yates in the No. 4 matchup.

Also putting together a strong performance was USF's No. 1 player of Andrea Ka. The sophomore from Paris, France, cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kylie Peek. Sofia Holmberg, Milica Hadzi-Tanovic and Brooke Irish all added straight-set victories for the Dons.

It took three sets for USF's Thyra Taune to dispatch Katie Edwards from the No. 2 position. Taune, a freshman from Stockholm, Sweden, began with the advantage after one, but Edwards rebounded for the tie. In the intense third set, Taune pulled away for a 10-7 win to seal the sweep.

Every player who took to the court earned at least one win, with Ka, Nikolic, Holmberg and Taune adding doubles victories on the day. The tandem of Holmberg and Taune opened up the day with the win from the No. 2 slot before Gonzaga tied up the contest for the doubles point from the No. 3 position. Ka and Nikolic, reigning WCC Doubles Team of the Week, took down Peek and Polayes, 8-4 to take the point. For the USF duo, the victory marks an impressive string of 10 straight.

USF concludes the regular season against newest conference member, Pacific. The Dons travel to Stockton to take on the Tigers Friday at 1 p.m.
