SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Junior guard
Anna Seilund took home West Coast Conference Player of the Week honors for her performance in
USF's 73-67 win at Cal Poly this past Saturday. Seilund scored a game-high 20 points while going a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line to help the Dons (6-4) secure their first road win of the season.
Seilund, who leads the team and ranks fifth in the WCC shooting 87.5 percent from the line, was especially clutch down the stretch when she converted eight free throw attempts in a row over the final 36 seconds to ice the win.
The Copenhagen native also made her presence felt on the defensive end, swiping a game-high four steals to add to her team-leading 20 steals on the year.
This is the first player of the week nod for Seilund and the first for the Dons since
Taylor Proctor on Feb. 15, 2016.
Seilund and the Dons return to War Memorial at the Sobrato Center on Wednesday afternoon where they are set to host
UC Davis in a 1 p.m. matinee that will serve as the Dons' final nonconference contest before opening up WCC play at San Diego on Dec. 29.
