SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco Athletics Department will be hosting a three-part event this Saturday, Oct. 14, that will be celebrating both the 45
th anniversary of Title IX and USF's first female national champion, track and field athlete
Charlotte Taylor.
Each event – the reception, main event, and game* are open to the public and free of charge.
The Title IX Reception will begin at 1 p.m. at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center. Attendees of the event will enjoy free appetizers and free wine. The three selections of wine include varietals from Kistler, Three Sticks and Gary Farrell – all vineyards local to Northern California.
The main event will take place after the reception concludes at 2 p.m. It will be highlighted by speakers including Athletic Director
Scott Sidwell, Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director
Joan McDermott, various female student-athlete alumni, current USF head coach
Helen Lehman-Winters, and national champion
Charlotte Taylor. Several short features will compliment the event, recalling memorable moments in Dons history while also focusing on the impact of Title IX.
After the main event, which will wrap around 4 p.m., guests are encouraged to attend Think Pink Night at the women's soccer game at Negoesco Stadium. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.
*Admittance is free for every fan wearing pink and also for all female alumni. First 50 fans will receive free pink t-shirts produced by USF.
The match will include a special halftime performance honoring
Charlotte Taylor, female alumni and the Title IX anniversary.
