Next up in our getting to know series is freshman
Joan Soewondo. Soewondo appeared in three of the Dons' four fall tournaments. She boasts an average round score of 76.6, carding 17 birdies. In her Dons debut, she finished tied for 17
th at the Ram Challenge, going four over with a three-round score of 220. She carded 10 birdies in the tournament, five on the final day.
"Joan has had a very solid freshman year so far as she represented the team in three events this fall," said head coach
Sara Doell. "The competitive nature and passion for the game that Joan displays is a significant reason for her successes. She wants to play well and cares about being a part of the team's success. She has one of the most fundamentally sound swings that I have seen and as we work on creating even more mental toughness, I know that Joan will continue to improve. I look forward to seeing what she can do in her career here at USF."
The native of Laguna Niguel, Calif., attended Dana Hills High School where she was a four-time letter winner for the Dolphins. In her junior and senior year, she was named the team captain and South Coast League MVP. Her senior season saw her lead the Dolphins to a South Coast League Championship.
She was named to the Top-10 OC Varsity All Country Girls Golf Team three times, and was the only player to represent the South Coast League and advance to the CIF WSCGA Foundation Southern California Girls Golf Championship.
We had Joan sit down and do a quick Q&A as the Dons get ready for the spring season.
