USF Women Claim No. 4 Seed in WCC Bracket

SAN FRANCISCO – After posting their best conference record since 2001-02, the USF women's basketball team will be heading into this week's West Coast Conference Championships as a No. 4 seed slated to matchup against No. 5 seed Loyola Marymount at 8 p.m. on Thursday from The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

USF's No. 4 seed is its highest since earning a No. 4 seed in 2002-03. The Dons (17-12, 11-7 WCC) will have momentum on their side heading into this year's tournament after winning their final four regular season games, including an 89-73 defeat of LMU this past Thursday at home. USF took both games against the Lions this year, which included a 79-72 win in Los Angeles in early February.

The Dons will be looking to make their third straight appearance in the tournament final after winning it last season as an unexpected No. 6 seed, becoming the lowest seed to ever win the tournament title.

USF has four tournament championships to its credit: 1995, '96, '97 and 2016.

As part of the tournament festivities in Las Vegas, USF will host a pre-game tailgate two hours prior to select men's and women's basketball game during the tournament, that is open to all Dons fans. There will be complimentary appetizers and a cash bar. Tailgates will take place in the parking lot south of the Orleans Arena. Stay tuned for more information on the tailgate schedule.
