San Francisco Women’s Tennis Falls to UC Santa Barbara 4-3
Julia Wartenburger Posts 6-1, 6-1 Victory at No. 2 Singels
SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to UC Santa Barbara Sunday at Golden Gate Park. The Dons fall to 2-4 on the season, while the Gauchos up their record to 2-5.
Wartenburger posted a convincing win at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Sofia Novak. Yurie Hashiguchi won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 for the Dons against Paola Cos. Akerbrant lost a tough match at No. 4 singles to April Scatliffe. Akerbrant won the opening set 6-4, but fell lost the next two sets 6-2, 6-4.
San Francisco returns to action when it opens West Coast Conference play against ancient Bay Area rival Santa Clara Friday, March 2. The Dons will compete at the Bronco Tennis facility starting at 1:00 PM.
