Matt Allio graduated with a Bachelors in Sociology in 1981 and earned a Master's in Education at California State Northridge. At USF, he was a Sportswriter for the Foghorn. He did a research fellowship at Columbia University and currently works as a Senior Advisor for Guanghua Education Group in Sacramento, CA.
The next day, the Dons returned to USF for their home opener before a SRO crowd. Monico Corral made the day a success with three hits, including a two run homer in a 9-2 rout. Matt Allio picked up the win in relief of Chuck Nat, while Miller recorded another save. The second game was called in the 4th inning because of darkness.
Dante Benedetti started freshman Jeff Dietrich in the first game on Saturday. The southpaw pitched well until the sixth inning when he ran into control problems. Matt Allio relieved Dietrich with one out in the sixth after giving up a two- run single finished the game with three shut-out innings, leaving the final score 6-0 in favor of San Jose (TheFoghorn).
