Biography: Amundson was a four-time letter winner for the USF Dons baseball team and was a hard throwing right handed pitcher.  He graduated in 1961 and went on to have a prominent career in politics in the state of California.

Why Amundson Chose USF: “A Jesuit education with small class sizes in a great city.  What more could you ask for?”

Favorite USF Memories: “I have many nice memories of my teammates, particularly Jim Barbeau. Jim and I played baseball together from our grade school days, through high school and then four years at USF. He was a terrific infielder with a batting average in the high 300's. I was a hard throwing right handed pitcher, but I was a little on the wild side.”

The USF Student-Athlete Experience: “I remember bonding with fellow athletes, sharing treasured times including a few laughs after games on campus.”

Life After USF: Most of Amundson’s post college life was spent in the political arena. He worked in the State Legislature as Staff Director of the Assembly Ways and Means Committee, served in appointed positions in the Executive Branch under four different Governors (Edmund Brown, Ronald Reagan, Jerry Brown and Pete Wilson), and worked as a lobbyist in the healthcare field. Following retirement, he lived in both Arizona and in Sacramento.  He has served for ten years as President of the Del Harbor Foundation, a non-profit which supports housing options for persons with intellectual disabilities. His favorite pastime is golf.
