What can one say about Bob Bachtold. Everything that can possibly be said has been said about him. He is the tops in everyone's book. He is a team leader, he is an outstanding and attentive player and he is just about everyone's friend in the world. His constant bat has provided the Dons with the hits when they needed them, and his unselfish attitudes, agreeing to play any position, and play it with enthusiasm, is a quality to be cited. Bob Bachtold is one of the best ever to some out of USF's baseball program.

After Santa Clara tied the contest in inning six, Bob Bachtold, USF's mild-mannered first sacker, connected for a solo round tripper on to Golden Gate Avenue. The Dons came up with two more runs to clinch the victory in the seventh without getting a hit, thanks to the wild pitching of the Bronco ace pitchers.

The hitting dept. is going to be another strong point in the Dons' favor with the return of seniors Dennis Yamamoto (298), Jim Ward (.279), Gary Delagnes (.274), and Bob Bachtold (.254). The outfield will have Ward, Yamamoto and Bachtold and Delagnes will be at first base (TheFoghorn).
