The men's basketball team got a lot bigger by signing three frontline players to NCAA letters of intent it was announced last week. The Dons filled some holes in the frontline with the addition of 6-6 forward Kent Bennett of Los Angeles Harbor Junior College, 6-10 center Rich Klein of Jacksonville (Texas) Junior College, and 6-7 forward Booker T. Washington of Western High School of Las Vegas. The three new signees will join early signees Gerald Walker of Hayward High School and Joe Duggan of St. Ignatius Prep. "We have now added five players for next year," Head Coach Jim Brovelli announced. "We signed three quality freshmen, and two junior college players who can help fill the void of the three starters that we lose." Bennett averaged 20.8 points and 11.7 rebounds per game while at L.A. Harbor JC this season. The All-State forward shot 60 percent from the field, and 76 percent from the free throw line. "Kent is an excellent power forward and rebounder whose strengths are defending, rebounding and finishing plays inside," Brovelli stated (TheFoghorn).
