Three candidates are currently being banged into shape with the Frosh gridders. These last mentioned include Glenn Poole, holder of a scoring record with the spherical ball; Marv Bowerman of Turlock, a being of Goliath proportions, and Art Skinner, who hails from the Windy City. The youngsters engage in a stiff schedule of over 20 games, including other college yearling aggregations, a number of JC squads, and several local club teams.
The Donlets last game was with the Blue V Gold B's whom they easily subdued with ten or twelve points to spare. Mention should be given to centers Ted Richter and Marv Bowerman, and guards Ron Moresco and Phil Vukicevich who have been some of the main reasons why the Frosh have gone so far. Incidentally, Bowerman played tackle on this year's championship Frosh football squad. He seems to be quite at home on the hardwood as well as the turf.
Tiger Roy Barni is determined that no one is going to de-stripe him when it comes to playing halfback. Leading candidates for the task of taming the Tiger are the clever running Joe Scudero, and Yuba City's Jimmy Boggan. Also on hand is a trio of lettermen: Vince Sakowski, Ken White, and George Carley. Five behemoths are up from the frosh to bolster the forward wall. Mike Mergen, Gene DeMartini, and Gene Barry all top 245 while ends Bob St. Clair and Marv Bowerman better the 230 mark. Vince Tringali and Gene Jacobs are a couple of talented jaycee line transfers (TheFoghorn).
