Amanda Willnerd led the Dons balanced attack with eight kills, and Christina Beckmann had 31 assists and 4 blocks. The Dons later defeated host Long Island (15-4,15-7,15-3) behind nine kills each from Willnerd and Casie Lomax. With this victory, the Dons moved to 5-2 on the season. They now have more victories than they did the entire 1997 and 1998 seasons combined, when they were a horrific 4-56. So, who or what is responsible for the drastic improvement of the Dons this year? "Our improvement this year has had a lot to do with the coaching that has come in," said Willnerd. "We started from scratch and have been able to build.
