John Duggan Jr. competed for the Dons in Men's Basketball from 1993-1997 and still ranks 22nd all-time with 1,175 career points. He was named to the WCC All-Academic Team in 1996 and 1997. After six years playing professionally in Europe, he returned to earn a Graduate Degree from USF in Sports Management 2004. He is part of a local San Francisco family that is dedicated to USF and to sports. His father, John Duggan Sr., graduated from graduate of St. Ignatius College Preparatory in 1959 and University of San Francisco in 1963, and was given the Jim Brovelli Award on 2018 for his commitment, and dedication to USF's basketball programs. John Sr. was a basketball coach at St. Ignatius Preparatory and at City College.Â
