Sam Williams will be a big plus for the Dons back court problems this year as he led his JC team to a 37-3 record. Sam has the potential to be a big scorer for the hilltop this year. Last year's city scoring champ will be on the Don roster in Erik Gilberg, a 6' 3" guard from Lowell High school. His aggressiveness and good shooting will help give USF good depth.
The Dons captured wins 22 and 23 over St. Mary's and Nevada Reno to remain atop the WCAC and national polls, despite injury and various other internal affairs that have narrowed the squad to as low as eight at one point, who at last count included Cox, who had already collected over 100 assists on the year; Rod Williams, who can fill in both guard spots easily and still perform well; Allen Thompson, a multi-talented lad who helped out immeasurably against Santa Clara; and Erik Gilberg, who (when he gets his turn) does an equally great job (TheFoghorn).
