Played basketball as a 6' 1" forward at USF from 1951-1954; he was a native of Richmond, CA, and attended Richmond High School.
Loose-jointed Carl Lawson from Richmond nosed out Jim Mosely for the third place scoring position. Lawson totaled 8.0 while Mosely was not far behind with 7.7. Coming to USE with a bundle of prep laurels, Lawson, with his catlike spring, was a backbone of the USF defense. Tom Lampe, Keith Walker, Frank Evangelho, Rich Mohr, Clem Korte, and Carl Lawson form an experienced nucleus on which Coach Phil Woolpert hopes to build another winning team (TheFoghorn).
