At 6' 5". Rick Schaer is a big guard and a good shooter. His size is an asset when me moves inside against a smaller opposing guard. His lack of varsity experience will hurt, but as the season progresses, he could be appearing quite frequently.

LeRoy Hogg, the flash from Sacred Heart, was the difference. The Dons "sixth man" came in early in the game and finished the night with twenty- three points. His efforts only netted him a tie for high-point laurels, however, guard Rick Schaer also popped in twenty-three points.

The rebellious Cubbies rallied in the second stanza, however, and coupled their shooting with domination of the backboards to prove too much for the suddenly cool-shooting Dons. USF's scoring leader, guard Rick Schaer, netted twenty-three points, his average figure for the Hilltoppers' first four games. His flashy teammate, Rick Ames, popped in fourteen points and collected six assists. LeRoy Hogg with fourteen and Rich Grey with thirteen rounded out the list of top Don scorers (TheFoghorn).
