Outside hitter Amanda Willnerd had a key block and soft kill during the run, both for points. Also, with the Dons up 6-1, the basketball hoop came into play, from dig that deflected onto the rim of the basketball hoop. A replay of the point was called. USF went on to dominate this game, only allowing five total points in the first game. Willnerd and Tinetti again played a vital role by contributing a block each. Russell added another service ace and the game winning kill from mid-court to take the first game 15-5 (TheFoghorn).
