Russell Humphrey was a native of Lodi, CA and played golf at Lodi High School. At USF he was the WCC Men's Golf Champion in 1994. He has continued to play and recently in 2024, won the Oregon Senior Amateur Title, his third in four years.

Lodi residents James Watt and Russell Humphrey qualified for the United States Golf Association Amateur Four-Ball Championship on May 27-31 at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina.

The pair of Lodi High graduates earned the right to compete in the 128-side field through qualifying at Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills.

Watt, 41, played on the 1993 Lodi High golf team that won the Northern California championship before he played at Nevada and for six-plus years on the mini-tour circuit. Humphrey, 45, played golf at Lodi and at Pacific and USF, and is an accomplished amateur player. Humphrey practices law in San Joaquin County. Watt estimates they have won “close to a dozen” area best-ball tournaments over the last eight years. Among their victories was the 2012 Northern California Golf Association Four-Ball Championship at Spyglass Hill Golf Course in Pebble Beach (Recordnet.com).
