Hilltoppers prevailed over Sacramento State on April 6 and Dominican College on April 20, while losing to San Jose State on April 18. In their last game, against Dominican College, USF swept past their opponents with a 9-0 victory. In singles competition, each Hilltopper won in straight sets paced by number one player Kate Beard's 6-3, 6-3 victory. On April 18, USF fell to San Jose State by a 6-3 score, as only Melinda Schuetz was able to eke out a victory in singles play, as were the Sraddha Basynat-Rori Hewett and Beard-Debi Dorfsman combinations in doubles.
Partially crippled by the loss of a key player, the Dons tennis squad dropped a WCC match against cross-bay rival Saint Mary's College by a 6-3 score on Tuesday. #3 singles player Debi Dorfsman was unavailable for singles play due to illness, but was able to participate in her doubles match. Kate Beard moved up to play #1 singles, while Sraddha Basnyat and team captain Rori Hewett moved down to #2 and #3 singles, respectively. Beard was bested by a 6-1, 6-1 score, while Basnyat was defeated 6-2, 6-0 and Hewett fell 6-0, 6-2. Melinda Schuetz lost by a 7-5, 6-2 score, as did Anne Navarro, 6-0, 6-1. Only Nancy Bach, playing at the #5 position, was able to triumph, 7-6 (10-8), 6-4. In doubles play, the Basynat-Hewett combination lost by an 8-1 tally, but Schuetz-Bach prevailed 8-6, and Dorfsman-Beard won 8-5.
