Henry Blewett

    Football (1932-1936)
As for a man to kick off, it is believed that Blewett and Seimering are the equal of any on the coast. Seimering got off two beautiful kicks, traveling 45 yards or more, while Blewett capped the honors with a lift of sixty yards to send the ball hurtling between the uprights (TheFoghorn).

He graduated in 1936 in Liberal Arts, and was a member of the Letters Society.

Tomorrow, Tackle Henry "Pop" Blewett will lead an eager bunch of Don grid-men onto the Parker Avenue greensward to begin two weeks •of rigorous training. And tomorrow, Tackle Henry "Pop" Blewett will be officially "sworn in" as 1935 captain of the University of San Francisco Dons. "Pop," his 210 pounds symmetrically draped over the 6 foot 2 framework, is succeeding to a post which has been held by a plentitude of brilliant tackles. Most prominent of them undoubtedly was Big Jim Barber. One of the leading pastimers in the land at that important position last season. But "Pop" maintains that, although Barber's shoes seem incapable of being completely filled at the present time, his feet are not midgets, and that his performances, if a driving ambition can do it, will be up to Barber's high standard. He expresses exuberant hopes that the captaincy, together with its attendant honors and glories, will carry him to new heights. Well Qualified? And why not? Certainly he has all the physical qualifications of an All-American, With his steady mental attitude, plus a huge right toe! That toe will, in all probability, furnish the difference between triumph and defeat for the Don on more than one occasion during the coming season. If last year Blewitt came through with two tremendous field-goals—one of them the seventh longest in the entire nation—and had an average of .750 with his conversion boots, this year—well, just draw your own conclusions! In excellent condition, "Pop" is right at "fighting weight" now, and with a little toughening up should be completely ready for another season of that slashing, crashing, hard- blocking game which is so characteristic of him. All-American (TheFoghorn)?
