The USF Rifle team will be sharpening their sights, and taking aim at an NCAA title in Head Coach Dave Lee's fourth year at the helm. The NCAA tournament will be held at the Air Force Academy the first or second weekend in February. In the meantime the team competes Nov. 8, 9, 10 at Washington State and Gonzaga. Shooting in the three position match, kneeling, standing and prone requires a steady heartbeat, steady aim, and nerves of steel. The ability to punch a hole the size of a period in a piece of paper while utilizing a .22 caliber rifle, and a specialized shooting jacket for increased friction and support through a set of open sights (no high powered scopes allowed) is to say the least difficult. The USF rifle team is the only coed sport on the Hilltop. Shooting for the Dons at the Gonzaga and Washington matches will be Kara Cretti, Stephen George, Jeffrey Tisor, and Matt Waclawick. The two alternates will be George Molinari and Susan Kazmer. Susan Kazmer is usually on the first team but an injury sustained while playing soccer inhibits her from shooting in position, and thus she remains an alternate (TheFoghorn).
