All of the Lucey's attended private, catholic schools. The boys attended Saint Ignatius High School, and the girls attended Star of the Sea. When it closed down, the girls attended Presentation High School, now part of USF. "I don't have any classes at Presentation this semester," explained Kathleen, "I'm glad I don't, it would be like going back to high school." After high school came college. That college was USF for all nine of the Lucey children.
The Lucey's at USF: Nine Luceys have graduated from USF over the past ten years.
Abbie Lucey: Graduated in 1982 with a Psychology Degree. Abbie is currently a teacher. Abbie and her husband Steve Wishart have a one year old daughter, Allison.

According to Kathleen, Abbie started the USF Lucey legacy without parental pressure. "Abbie chose USF because it was in the city and she wanted to stay close to home." The younger Luceys followed Abbie's lead for similar reasons. "After the first few kids in our family went to USF, going to USF turned into a chain reaction. Everyone just sort of found themselves going here." Kathleen considered attending college out of state, but decided to complete the Lucey legacy. She admitted that she chose to attend USF because of her family, and not because of academics. "It was almost beyond my control," she said, "Nobody forced me to come here. I decided to come to USF because I had heard so much about it from my siblings, actually, a few of my brothers and sisters suggested that I attend college further away so I could get the experience, but I ended up here."
Despite the occasional sibling squabbles and general household chaos, Kathleen has enjoyed attending USF with her brothers and sisters. "I liked going to school with Nellie and Margaret, we got along pretty well. Occasionally Margaret and IÂ argued on the soccer field, but somehow we survived." Being at the end of the Lucey ladder has worked to her advantage in Kathleen's opinion away with a lot more." Kathleen's older brothers and sisters Kathleen is last of 9 children to graduate from USF. educated her about USF. "It was like having eight personal advisors. I knew all about registering, athletics and what professors to take before I even got here. I had plenty of people to turn to who already knew the system." Kathleen's Future: After graduating, Kathleen plans to tour Europe and eventually work as an accountant. For now, Kathleen is enjoying her last months at USF. She spends her spare time reading, playing soccer and frequenting local bars. USF has been a second home for her and her eight brothers and sisters. She is proud to be part of the USF family legacy, and she is proud to be the last of the Lucey's (Wednesday, April 1, 1992 San Francisco Foghorn).
