Makani Lum, a native of Kaneohe, HI, attended Kamehameha High School, and had a .389 AVG and 30 RBIs for them. He bats and throws right, at 6' 1", 210 lbs.Â
Early on it looks like Owen McAllister, the southpaw transfer from Gavilan Junior College, may be penciled in as the fourth starter. In junior college, he compiled a 5-2 record last year, while recording a 3.60 ERA and had 95 strikeouts in 89 innings pitched. Also look for freshman Tim McCormac, who was 11-1 with a 1.26 ERA at state champion DeLaSalle High School in Concord, lefty Paul Deffher who had 65 strikeouts in 59 innings at Laney College, and Makani Lum, one of six players from Hawaii, who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates after his senior season to be in the mix as well (TheFoghorn).
