Although visibly pleased with finally reaching this point in his career, Coach Negoesco remained modest about his accomplishments. In his usual humble manner, he thanked the many fans, friends, and most of all the players, which helped him obtain this recognition. "Of all the years I coached, I was really never interested in winning," Negoesco said. "Yeah, I want to win, but the kids came first. Teach the kids how to play, and how to play well, and they will win for you." And win they did. The players, who exemplified all of the hard work put in by Coach Negoesco, were extremely proud to have taken part in such a momentous occasion. Fabio Pires, the crowd favorite and hero of last week's overtime victory over previously undefeated Portland, summed up the team's feelings: "It's really important for us, the 500," he said. And to give this win for Steven. He really deserves it (TheFoghorn)."
