Also, on defensive end will be Tim Pitsker, whom Harvard sought for some time. He played previously for the New Mexico Military Institute, and had quite a successful season there. Tom is 6’ 2” and weighs in at a mere 200 pounds.

Coach Vince Tringali is surrounded by his captains for the 1971 football season: quarterback Dan Martin, offensive guard Andre Hicks, and middle linebacker Steve Haag are all smiles about the coming football season, which suffered the greatest from injuries last season. The stalwart of the unit is tackle Jim Reid (221) who was a harassing pass rusher last season. Joining Reid in patrolling the "pit" are Tim Pitsker (204), Len "Dino" Dreisbach (238) and transfer Harold Phillips (221) from Contra Costa JC. The strong point for the Dons defense will definitely be the linebacking corps which is headed by little All-America candidate Steve Haag. Haag, a powerful man who loves to "stick", has led the Hilltoppers in tackles the past two seasons. Playing in the middle, Haag is excellent at smelling out and stopping the dive and the sweep, while also doing a fine job covering the pass. Joining Haag are corner backers Bob Unruh (213), who sat out last season with a leg injury, and scrappy Owen Auriluo who is noted for his bone shattering tackles (TheFoghorn).

Pitsker was a prosecutor in Santa Clara County for 26 years until he retired in February. He was the first prosecutor in the county to use DNA in a trial and has handled thousands of cases, including complex ones involving gangs. He’s proud of being an iconoclast who doesn’t own a computer or a cell phone, and he doesn’t believe in raising money, especially from people who will appear before him. “Does everyone have to be the same? I’m a worker and I get the job done,” he said. “You need that in a judge (MercuryNews)."
