Aplindo Frank Evangelho

A native of Oakland, standing at 6’ 5, Frank Evangelho played center for the Sixth Army Presidio Toreros, after attending USF in the early 1950s. At that time he was a Private 1st Class stationed at the San Francisco Presidio. The Star Presidian published an article on January 30, 1959 covering the All-Team Tournament win by the Toreros against the Fort Lewis Chiefs. Evangelho scored 16 points, and it was the third consecutive win by the Toreros at the Sixth Army Basketball Championship games. The team went on to the National AAU Tournament in hopes of competing in the Pan-American Games.
 
At USF, Frank played forward with Dons Hall of Fame teammates Bill Russell, Hal Perry, Stan Buchanan and K.C. Jones from 1951 to 1954. He averaged 11.6 PPG, 68.6 FT%, and 36.8 FG%. Evangelho graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in History from USF in 1954, and went on to teach Social Studies and Physical Education.
