Charles E. Stith was born on July 19, 1911 in Fredonia, KS. He attended Mission High School and participated in the Glee Club, and ran track for them, including high and low hurdles and broad jump. He was active in the Mission YWCA.

After a freshman year at San Jose State Teacher's College, he attended USF in the class of 1935, and ran track and hurdles for the Dons. After graduation, he worked for the Union Oil Company.

He was inducted into the USF Hall of Fame in 1974.
