Richard George "Dick" Raffetto was born on July 8, 1926, in San Francisco. He attended Saint Ignatius College Preparatory until 1944, and then USF, graduating in 1948. While at USF, he was a cheerleader, and after graduation, has been an active alumnus. In 1949, he joined his father and brother in the family real estate management business, William J. Raffetto & Sons. He worked there until his retirement in 1996 at the age of 70.
Raffetto was involved in the renovation of the Russell Room at the War Memorial Gym, Sobrato Center and helped design the USF Mascot. Raffetto served as President and Vice-President for the USF Dons Century Club, and as Vice-Chair on the Board of Directors for the Green & Gold Club which supports student athletes. Raffetto traveled extensively with the USF men's basketball team as one of the Silver Circle President Ambassadors. He was awarded the Alumni Service Award and inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2008.
Off-campus, Raffetto has served as President of the North Beach Lions Club, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and as a delegate to the National Republican Convention in 1968.
