Ed Thomas was born on December 12, 1940 in Oakland, and played as a forward for the Dons from 1960 to 1964. He was a three-year letter winner for the Dons.Thomas earned Second Team All-WCAC honors and was an All-Northern California selection after averaging 10.6 PPG and 8.6 RPG as a sophomore in 1960-1961. After an injury benched him for the following season, he returned to average 11.1 PPG and 5.7 RPG to help the Dons finish with a 18-9 record and first place in the WCAC. He averaged 8.5 PPG and 7.4 RPB in 1963-1964 as the Dons finished with a 27-11 record and earned their second conference title 12-0. Thomas’ USF career total averages were 9.7 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 40.2 FG%, and 52.1 FT%. 
 
Did You Know?: Thomas scored 57 games as a senior in a 32-minute high school game for McCylmonds High School in Oakland. On December 16, 1958 Thomas made 25-44 shots from the floor, and was 7-11 from the free throw line, guiding the Warriors to a 76-53 win over Oakland Tech High School. Thomas did not play much down the stretch since the Warriors had a comfortable lead, or he might have gone for over 70 points. He still ended up scoring 75% of his team's point total. 

Life After USF: Thomas remained active in the USF community following his graduation in 1964. He served two three-year terms as director of USF's Alumni Association, spent 16 years as the director of the Green and Gold Club and four years as the director of USF's 6th Man Club. He is still a season-ticker holder for men's basketball.
