Frank Kuzara played guard for the USF Dons from 1947 to 1950. At 5’ 10”, Kuzara was a key asset during his sophomore year on the 1949 USF NIT Championship team. He exhibited a knockdown jump shot, and played alongside the team of All-Americans Don Lofgran, Joe McNamee, team captain Jon Bennington, Russ Giudice, and Rene Herrerias. Kuzara’s USF career averaged 8.5 PPG and a 68.8 FT%.

Kuzara was a starter on the Stewart Chevrolet team of San Francisco in the 1951 Amateur Athletic Union Tournament in Denver. He played alongside Augie Bullwinkle from Saint Mary’s, and Joe Greenbach from Santa Clara. The team was led by Stanford’s Hank Luisetti who is credited with introducing the running one-handed hook shot.

In the AAU semifinals, Luisetti’s team ended the 58-game winning streak of the Phillip 66ers of Bartlesville, Oklahoma with George Yardley and Kuzara scoring 35 points between them. Kuzara missed a crucial jumper with five seconds left in the second overtime period, but in the third, Kuzara made a free throw that resulted in a 66-63 victory for the Stewarts. The Stewarts went on to defeat Poudre Valley team of Fort Collins, Colorado in the finals.
