Gerald Walker was born on December 28, 1973, and played for the Dons from 1992 to 1996. In his sophomore and junior years, he averaged 17.9 PPG. He finished his career at USF ranked sixth in scoring (1665), ninth in field goals (594), seventh in three-pointers (142), and second in assists (400).

Walker spent ten years chasing his dream of playing in the NBA, playing in Salina, KS, Mobile, AL and in Seoul, Korea but never captured the attention of the NBA scouts. When he learned that the professional team Saba Battery in Iran was looking for a point guard, he played three months with them. He helped his club win the 2004 League Championship, and returned home that same year. Walker told the East Bay Times: “I was nervous, but for the love of basketball, I needed to play. That’s always been my dream. I just never seemed to meet the right people. Later, as you get older, the dream fades.”

He graduated in 1997 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame at USF in 2005.
