Marlon Redmond was born on April 15, 1955 in San Francisco, and he attended Balboa High School prior to USF. Redmond during his junior year averaged 15.0 PPG as the team’s third-leading scorer. By the beginning of his senior year he was 14th on the list of the program’s all-time leading scorers. Playing guard, Redmond sustained a knee injury at the beginning of the WCAC season but was able to battle through playing in 23 out of 30 games. After the season, Redmond was honored as Second Team All-Northern California, Second Team All-West Coast Athletic Conference, and Honorable Mention United Press International All-Pacific Coast. He also earned All-WCAC First Team honors as well as Honorable Mention All-West Coast when he averaged 11.2 RPG. He finished his USF career with 1308 points and 686 rebounds.
He was drafted in the Third Round (60th pick overall) of the 1977 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors, was traded to the Kansas City Kings in 1978, acquired by the Philadelphia 76ers, and then reacquired by the Kings. His NBA career averages were 6.5 PPG, 2.1 RPG, and 1.0 assists.
