Michael Thomas “Mike” Buskey was born on January 13, 1949 in San Francisco, CA, and attended Terra Nova High School in Pacifica, CA, where he played baseball and basketball. He attended USF and played baseball for the Dons from 1968 to 1972, with a batting average of 0.361. At 5’ 11”, 165 lbs., he played shortstop, and was signed by the Sarasota White Sox as a free agent for the 1971 season. After five seasons in the Minor Leagues, he was traded with Jim Kaat to the Philadelphia Phillies in 1975. He played for the Phillies Triple A affiliate, the Oklahoma City 89ers, and transferred to the Phillies in the major league in September, 1977, where he batted an average of 0.268, and recorded 27 runs. He retired from baseball on October 1, 1977. 

Buskey's MLB career statistical line reads: 6 games played, 7 at bats, 2 hits, .286 batting average, 1 run scored, 1 run batted in, 1 hit-by-pitch, .375 on-base percentage, and .571 slugging percentage.
 
After baseball, he worked in the corporate sector for Oshman’s Sporting Goods, Circuit City, Wherehouse Entertainment, Home Depot, and in 2010, as President of Game-Stop.
