Patrick McGuigan was born on September 8, 1984 in Honolulu, HI.
At 6’ 1, 185 lbs., he played for the Dons baseball team and remains at the top of several career and single-season pitching charts. He finished USF in 2006 with a record of 22 wins and 18 saves. McGuigan also ranks in the Top-10 All-Time in appearances (90; 2nd), ERA (2.98; 9th), innings (241.1; 10th) and strikeouts (177; 8th) and tops USF’s single-season lists for wins (12 in 2006) and ERA (1.66 in 2005). He was named the WCC’s Pitcher of the Year in 2006 after going 12-3 with five saves and a 3.28 ERA in helping the Dons to their first ever WCC championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. McGuigan also made 14 starts that season with 15 relief appearances, which led to five saves. He earned All-Region Honors and received the team’s Jesse Foppert Award, which is given annually to the Dons Top Pitcher.
In 2006, McGuigan was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 27th Round of the MLB June Amateur Draft. He played two seasons on a variety of teams in the East Coast and Midwestern Leagues: the Pulaski Blue Jays, Auburn Doubledays, Dunedin Blue Jays, GCL Blue Jays, and the Lansing Lugnuts.
Following his baseball career, he served on the Board of the Dante’s Boys Foundation.
