Peter Anthony Breceda was born on November 16, 1916 in Santa Monica, CA. He attended his local Santa Monica High School where he played basketball. He attended USF in the class of 1940 and was on the Dons boxing team, along with Hall of Fame colleagues Dante Benedetti and Dan Fisk. He also played football, rugby, baseball, and basketball. The 1937 season football team was undefeated. “He is about to start the string again with spring football. Pete can also sing, orate and play pool,” said the San Francisco Examiner.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Following the war he became a Police Officer in Santa Monica, CA. In 1947, he was honored for a rescue of a seventeen year old boy stranded on a 100 foot cliff in Pacific Palisades, CA.
