Richard Joseph Curotto was born on December 22, 1931 in Northern California. His father was born in Italy, and ran a wholesale florist business in Millbrae, CA. He graduated from USF in 1953 and then served in the United States Army in 1954. He earned a Law Degree in 1958, and practiced law in Redwood City and in San Mateo until 1993.
He and his family contributed a $2 million gift towards the renovation of the War Memorial Gym. He has been a generous donor to the Athletics' Department and a member of the USF Board of Trustees. He was a member of the President’s Ambassador’s Giving Society. He was inducted to the USF Hall of Fame in 1985.
