Biography: Russell played volleyball for your years on the Hilltop from 1999-2003. She was a member of the 2003 team that started the season with a 15-0 record. The team made a 17-match turnaround in the win column from 2002, recorded the program's first-ever 20-win season, earned the program's first-ever national ranking, and set a program record for kills in a season (1,862) en route to qualifying for the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament. Russell was named USF Comeback Player of the Year Award in 2003, and was awarded USF's Anne Dolan Award for being the department's top student-athlete, and the Sandee Hill Award, for best representing USF as a student-athlete. She was a three-time all-WCC Honorable Mention honoree and was a three-time WCC All-Academic First Team award winner. She is the only USF volleyball player ever to rank in the top-10 in three career record categories: first all-time in career blocks (454), sixth all-time in career kills (1,244), and 10th all-time in career digs (918).

Why Fowler Chose USF: "I choose USF because the city was enchanting, the campus was beautiful, and the volleyball program had potential."

Favorite USF Memories: "I remember sore body parts during triple days, running the timed mile, early morning work outs, late night games. I remember running up Lone Mountain to make a class on time with ice on my shoulder and knees after practice got out late. I remember card games in airports, and sleeping on planes."

The USF Student-Athlete Experience: “One of the best things about being a student athlete was gaining sisters for life."

Life After USF: Russell graduated with a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering. She worked for Raytheon for several years as an engineering manager.
