Thomas J. "Soup" Carothers attended the then Saint Ignatius College, and graduated in 1930 with a Liberal Arts degree. He was Sergeant-at-Arms of the Student Body Council and captained the then Grey Fog Football Team.

He was inducted into the USF Hall of Fame in 1969.
