William Rednall "Tiny" Bussenius was born on November 22, 1919 in Fillmore, CA, and attended Mission High School. At 18 years of age, he boxed at the Dreamland Auditorium in the 1937 State Amateur Championships in the 147 lb. class, sponsored by Mario's Drugs, owned by Mario "Doc" Corsiglia.
At USF, at 6’, 190 lbs., he played football and continued to box. He was a member of Scabbard and Blade and the Block Club. After graduation in 1943, he was named Head Coach of the Dons basketball team, and recorded a 22-21 record. In 1944, he moved to Washington High School as Head Coach. In 1946, he became an NCAA official and refereed 594 Division I games, including the Final Four in 1963, 1966, and in 1968. He was a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. army Reserve. He graduated in Economics.
He served on the San Francisco College Preparatory School Board of Directors from 1988 to 1999. He was inducted into the San Francisco College Preparatory Hall of Fame in 1992, and the USF Hall of Fame in 1970.
