SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's tennis team continued its strong singles play Saturday morning, downing the Cal Poly Mustangs, 6-1, at Golden Gate Park.

The Dons dropped the doubles point for the third consecutive match but stormed back to take all six singles matches, including four three-set affairs.

With the win, USF improved to 5-2 on the season while Cal Poly fell to 2-6.

“We had average execution today but we showed great fight in the singles to pull out all six matches,” said USF coach Hilary Somers. “This win gives us good momentum going in to our first conference match next weekend.”

The Dons open West Coast Conference play on Sunday, March 3 at 11 a.m. as they play host to the Santa Clara Broncos (2-4, 0-0 WCC).
