MALIBU, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 defeat in its first road match in almost two months, falling to the Pepperdine Waves Friday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
The loss drops USF to 10-6 on the year and 1-3 in West Coast Conference action and snaps the Dons' four-match winning streak.
Milica Hadzi-Tanovic played the tightest match of the day, taking Pepperdine's Ale Granillo to the tiebreaker in both sets before falling 7-6, 7-5.
“Pepperdine competed really well today,” said USF coach
Hilary Somers. “We always learn a lot from playing them and we hope to build on what we learned today to come out stronger in each match.”
The Dons close out the Southern California road swing Saturday at 11 a.m. when they take on the No. 61 Loyola Marymount Lions (7-6, 0-1 WCC) in Los Angeles.
