USF Launches Thanksgiving Food Drive
10/29/2014 8:03:00 AM | General
In partnership with the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, USF Athletics will be conducting a Thanksgiving Food Drive where fans may exchange a non-perishable food item for discounted admission into select home events, beginning with Sunday's women's soccer game against Gonzaga (1:00 p.m.).
For designated soccer, volleyball and women's basketball games, a donation of one non-perishable food item will be accepted in exchange for a discounted admission of $1.00. Fans may also drop off any non-perishable food items in exchange for a $5.00 general admission ticket for USF's men's basketball season opener against South Carolina State on Nov. 16. Donations will also be accepted for a $5.00 admission to the volleyball-women's basketball doubleheader on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
Non-perishable food items include but are not limited to canned fruits and vegetables, canned tuna or meat, soup, chili, beans, cereal and granola bars. No glass or perishable items, please.
All donations will be distributed to over 450 community partners of the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank and will be used to prepare meals for those in need or to supplement larger deliveries.
The mission of the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank is to end hunger in those two communities. With 130 employees, 25,000 volunteers and 450 partner organizations, the Food Bank is a vital lifeline for people in need of food assistance. Approximately 225,000 people are nourished each year through donations made to San Francisco-Marin Food Bank.
