USF Finishes Fifth at Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational

Final Round Results
SAN JOSE -- USF's women's golf team shot a 14-over 295 in the final round of the Juli Inkster Invitational and finished fifth in the 13-team field.
The Dons compiled a 54-hole score of 892 (+28) at the Almaden Country Club, finishing 16 strokes behind Oregon, which captured the event with a 12-over 876. UC Davis was two shots back at 878.
San Jose State (883) and New Mexico (891) joined the Dons in the top five.
Three players - Martina Edberg of Cal State-Fullerton, Sammi Stevens of New Mexico and Cataleen Santos of Oregon - tied for medalist honors at 213 (-3). Santos earned a share of the title with a closing round 68 on the 6,162-yard Alamaden layout.
Alison Lillie earned her second top-10 finish of the season, tying for eighth place at 219 (+3). The freshman, who started the day tied for third place after rounds of 71 and 72 on Monday, shot a final round 76 to slip four spots down the leaderboard.
Clare Sorensen tied for 17th place at 223 (+7). The Roseville-native was even par through 10 holes but played her last eight holes 5-over for a closing round of 77.
Freshman Ayaka Suzuki picked up two late birdies to finish with a final round 73 and tied for 22nd at 224 (+8).
Victoria House shot a 76 and tied for 56th place at 236, along with teammate Emelie Lundstrom, who closed with an 83 on Tuesday.
USF will return to action on March 16 when the Dons join the field at the Fresno State Lexus Classic, which will ne held at the Copper River Country Club.
