FAIRFAX, Calif. -- USF's women's golf team wrapped up play in the inaugural Bay Area Intercollegiate this afternoon at the Meadow Club, setting for a ninth place finish after carding a final round 297 on Tuesday.
At 896 (+44), the Dons finished 12 strokes out of eighth place occupied by UC Riverside at 884 (+32).
Top-ranked Washington ran away from the field to secure the team championship with a winning score of 834 (-18) following rounds of 280-275-279. The Huskies earned a 24-stroke victory over second place Oregon (858) while UC Davis (866) finished a distant third.
Washington's Jennifer Yang and Colorado's Esther Lee shared medalist honors at minus-seven 206. Yang closed with a brilliant 68 to earn a share of the title with Lee, who held the 36-hole lead.
Clare Sorensen led USF's individuals at 223 (+10), good for a share of 28th place. The junior from Roseville closed with a 75 after rounds of 78 and 70 on Monday.
Vanessa Ha tied for 33rd at 224 (+11) following a final round 73, which matched Emelie Lundstrom from the Dons' low round of the day.
Lundstrom had four birdies on her card but the junior was victimized by a pair of double bogeys and tied for 36th at 225 (+13).
Sophomore Alison Lillie tied for 48th at 228 (+15) following her third consecutive round of 76.
Michelle Condry, playing as an individual, turned in final round of 75 to grab a share of 57th place at 231 (+18).
Playing in her first intercollegiate event, Kimberly Liu tied for 64th at 237 (+24) after a final round 77 that featured three birdies.
Ayaka Suzuki, who saw her first round get cut short after 12 holes on Monday due to tightness in her back, shot a closing round 76.
USF will return to action on March 16 when the Dons join the field at the BYU Estrada Classic, to be held in St. George, Utah.
