USF - University of San Francisco or You Stay Forever? What is it about our school that creates such great passion and devotion from its sons and daughters?

The University of San Francisco Tuesday Testimonials tell that story in the words of the special men and women who make the Hilltop such an amazing place.

When third generation native San Franciscan, Phil Spiegel '94, was making his college decision the University of San Francisco was his top choice and his parents acquiesced. Packing his bags and moving into Gillson Hall in 1990 set the course for Spiegel to become a lifelong Don.

Spiegel serves as the general manager and executive vice president of The Julia Morgan Ballroom, USF's host for the second annual Dons Tip-Off Gala. As a USF season ticket holder, supporting the Dons' athletics programs is something that excites him, as he is ready for the City by the Bay to envelop and embrace the program as its own.

"The process of athletics and being in a major city and having great athletics is actually very important to me. I personally love going to the games, I love the community, I love the fact it's like 'Cheers' where everybody knows your name.

"But in reality, right now I like the prospect of taking University of San Francisco athletics to greatness. I'm excited about activating the City of San Francisco because they don't know it yet, but the second that these teams start performing, the City of San Francisco will hug it – and they won't let go."
