Final Team and Individual Results
TEMPE, Ariz. – USF's men's golf team finished 12th at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational which concluded today at the Karsten Course in Tempe.
The Dons shot a 4-over team score of 288 on Sunday to finish at 288 (+4) for the 54-hole event, which was won by Arizona State, which ran away from the field on its home course to post a 41-under score of 811, good for a 20 stroke victory over second-place UNLV (831).
Collin Morikawa of California captured medalist honors with a 13-under score of 200. Morikawa shot a 2-under 69 in his final round to earn a one-stroke victory over Shintara Ban of UNLV and Arizona State's Chun An Yu.
Tim Widing was again the low Don on the leaderboard, as the freshman tied for sixth at 7-under 206 after posting a 1-over 72 on Sunday. Widing's round was highlighted by an eagle 3 on the par-5 17th, his eighth hole of the day. The finish marks the fourth consecutive top-10 from the young Swede.
Max Alcorn and Henry Chung both shot 1-under 70s on their final round. Alcorn tied for 27th at 213 (E) while Chung moved nine spots up the leader board into a tie for 48th at 217 (+4). Alcorn got into red numbers on his round with a birdie on the par-3 sixth hole, his 15th of the day while Chung picked up two birdies on his last four holes to finish with a 1-under 70.
Jalen Griffin tied for 66th at 224 (+11) after a 77 today and Mathias Wentjarvi shot a final round 80 to finish 83rd at 241 (+28).
USF will return to action on March 30th when the Dons join the field at The Goodwin hosted by Stanford.
